Cemetery Headstone Restoration

Darby Township Trustees recently hired Longstreth Memorials to clean and restore several headstones at Mitchell Cemetery, located on State Route 38.

The project helped preserve the history and honor of those laid to rest by carefully restoring the headstones to their original condition.

Below are before-and-after photos showcasing the restoration work.

About Our Township

Darby Township, located in the southern section of Union County, Ohio, was organized in 1820 and named after the Big Darby Creek which runs through the township. Our township is governed by a three-member board of trustees and an elected fiscal officer. Our beautiful rural township is home to Unionville Center and offers our residents a safe and friendly community. Darby Township is also home to Fairbanks High School, named after Charles W. Fairbanks, the 26th Vice President of the United States under President Theodore Roosevelt. Charles Fairbanks was born and raised in Darby Township before marrying and moving to Indianapolis to pursue a career in politics. We take great pride in our history and our community here in Darby Township, and we invite you to come and experience all that we have to offer!

Thank you for exploring Darby Township, located in southeastern Union County, Ohio.
Our township is rich in natural resources, has a vibrant agricultural industry, and affords generous living.

Darby Township would like to thank the Mitchell family for their generous donation of the Mitchell Cemetery monument. What a great tribute to the many Mitchell family forefathers who are buried in this cemetery. The monument provides a better designation between the Mitchell cemetery and St. Paul’s cemetery.
